Riptide Publishing Presents Heidi Belleau, Amelia C. Gormley, and The “Inch by Inch” Blog Tour

AN EXCERPT FROM INCH BY INCH (THE PROFESSOR’S RULE #3)

Hi, and welcome to the Inch by Inch blog tour! Inch by Inch is the third in Riptide’s BDSM erotica series The Professor’s Rule, written by Heidi Belleau and Amelia C. Gormley. Today, Lisa has asked us to share an excerpt featuring James and Satish from Inch by Inch. All week we’ll be touring the web giving you a behind-the-scenes look at The Professor’s Rule, including new character profiles and some very steamy excerpts. We’re also giving away not one but TWO ebooks, so stay tuned!

Thanks so much to our host, The Novel Approach, and to you readers, of course, for coming along!

James looked down at the alternating light and dark of their interleaved fingers. What did the hand-holding mean? Was Satish just a touchy person, or was he the sort of guy who was after a boyfriend rather than a fuck-buddy? Whatever his expectations, now was definitely the time to come clean. “Um, look. In the interest of full disclosure, I should probably tell you that there is someone else I’m sort of . . . involved with.”

“Ah.” Satish fell silent, his expression closing off, but his grasp on James’s fingers remained. “That would be whoever tried to buy your clothes for you?”

“H-how did you—”

“Because if one of my sisters tried to pay for one of my bills, I wouldn’t be flustered, I’d be jumping for joy.”

James chuffed a soft laugh. “Good point. He’s not—It’s not—He’s not, like, a boyfriend. I’m not sure an accurate word to describe the situation exists. I hadn’t seen him for a long time until recently, but now that we’ve made contact again, I’m not sure I’m going to stop seeing him anytime soon. I guess it depends on how it goes. But we’re not, you know, committed or anything. Not exclusive.”

“Right. And you want to know if I’m expecting exclusivity . . . or maybe you’re warning me against expecting it.” Satish tapped the fingers of his free hand on the table. “Well, I have to appreciate the honesty. It’s not like I thought a single date and a fluke blowjob in a dressing room entitles me to make those sorts of demands.”

“No, but you should at least have the option of walking away if that sort of situation is something you don’t want to get involved in.”

Satish unlaced their fingers and hooked James by the back of the neck, pulling him into a quick, firm kiss.

“So long as he knows about me and I’m not going to wake up some morning to find the windows smashed out of my car, I think I’m okay with it.” He drew back with a laugh. “Honestly, heavy discussions of relationship dynamics aren’t the sort of involvement I figured we had planned for tonight.”

“Oh.” James felt a goofy grin spread across his face. “Good then.”

The next kiss was slower, more purposeful. Whatever reserve Satish might have demonstrated last time was clearly due to the fear of losing his job, because here in this dimly-lit piano bar on the Burnside Triangle, there was no hint of it. If James had pegged Satish as confident before, that kiss confirmed it. Aggressive without being forceful or pushy, it drew James in, made him pliant against Satish, who grasped James’s waist at either side and pulled him closer, sliding him toward the edge of his chair.

He made himself let go of all the concern he’d had over the Carson factor coming into this date and let himself enjoy the glide of Satish’s lips down his throat. They stopped when Satish reached the pulse just above James’s collar, and with a turn of his head, James could breathe in Satish’s scent, sharp and rich, spicy yet earthy. James didn’t know if it was a cologne or just Satish, but he wanted more of it. He nuzzled Satish’s temple and inhaled. The slow buildup of arousal felt nice. Different from a quickie arranged online or via texts, which had been James’s usual means of getting off up until the last week. This was something he could savor.

“What’s your roommate situation like?” He caught the shell of Satish’s ear between his teeth, scraping lightly.

Satish hummed. “Incredibly irritating. Three other guys who apparently are under the impression that our duplex is a frat house. Also, you could get a contact buzz just from smelling the sofa. Yours?”

“Met my roommate at an N.A. meeting, so there’s no booze, drugs or parties going on, but I’ve never brought anyone home before while he’s been home. He’s straight, and he knows I’m not and he doesn’t mind in the hypothetical, but I’ve never tested where his comfort zone ends.”

“Ah.” Satish drew back a little, and James realized he was starting to dislike the caution that single syllable seemed to denote when Satish spoke it. “I wouldn’t want to do anything to make your living situation uncomfortable. If you want to risk my place . . .”

James shook his head quickly. “No. If the fact that I might have a sex life is going to bother my roommate, better I know it now.”

“Okay.” Satish brushed another kiss across his lips and leaned back, grinning. “If he makes a scene, I could just take you to a motel. Word is, I have a nice, fat commission check coming.”

Inch by Inch (The Professor’s Rule #3)

After two long, kink-free years apart, James Sheridan has reunited with his Professor: the sexy, dominant Evander Carson. But this time, things will be different. James is older, more sure of himself, and confident that he can draw the line between Carson’s demands and his own principles.
One of those lines is gorgeous menswear salesman Satish Malhotra. After their steamy dressing room encounter, James feels an unexpected connection to Satish, and he wants to explore it further. But Carson’s involvement—in James’s life, and in James and Satish’s budding relationship—complicates things.

Carson’s penchant for using other men in their sex games has always troubled James, and he’s adamant that Satish not be just another notch in their whipping post. But when Satish learns what prompted James to pursue him in the first place, will James’s new ability to draw the line even matter?

About Amelia:

Amelia C. Gormley may seem like anyone else. But the truth is she sings in the shower, dances doing laundry, and writes blisteringly hot m/m erotic romance while her son is at school. When she’s not writing in her Pacific Northwest home, Amelia single-handedly juggles her husband, her son, their home, and the obstacles of life by turning into an everyday superhero. And that, she supposes, is just like anyone else.

Her self-published novel-in-three-parts, Impulse (Inertia, Book One; Acceleration, Book Two; and Velocity, Book Three) can be found at most major online book retailers, and be sure to check Riptide for her latest releases, including her Highland historical, The Laird’s Forbidden Lover, the The Professor’s Rule series of erotic novelettes (co-written with Heidi Belleau), and her upcoming post-apocalyptic romance, Strain.

You can contact Amelia on Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads, BookLikes, Tumblr, or contact her by email using the form at http://ameliacgormley.com/

About Heidi:

Heidi Belleau was born and raised in small town New Brunswick, Canada. She now lives in the rugged oil-patch frontier of Northern BC with her husband, an Irish ex-pat whose long work hours in the trades leave her plenty of quiet time to write. She has a degree in history from Simon Fraser University with a concentration in British and Irish studies; much of her work centered on popular culture, oral folklore, and sexuality, but she was known to perplex her professors with papers on the historical roots of modern romance novel tropes. (Ask her about Highlanders!) Her writing reflects everything she loves: diverse casts of characters, a sense of history and place, equal parts witty and filthy dialogue, the occasional mythological twist, and most of all, love—in all its weird and wonderful forms. She also writes queer-flavoured M/F as Heloise Belleau.

I haven’t had the pleasure yet, but any student/prof scenario offers a ton of potential intrigue (I’m partial to the X-rated classroom demonstration)!

I haven’t read the series yet, still sitting on my TBR. Though it may not remain there for long now…I just might have to read this right now.
