Dinner and a Book With Piper and Poppy: The Halloween Edition

Hello, lovely readers. Happy Halloween, All Hallow’s Eve, or Happy Samhain, if you celebrate! Halloween is one of our favorite holidays. I (Piper) love watching horror movies, seeing all the decorations, visiting haunted houses, taking my son trick-or-treating. Maybe this is in part because Fall is also my favorite season. Changing leaves, hoodie weather, an abundance of honeycrisp apples in stores. This is my happy time. :D

In addition to watching horror flicks to get in the mood, I also like to indulge in rereading my favorite horror or paranormal books this time of year, so Poppy and I thought it would be cool to share some of our favorite books in m/m featuring things that go bump in the night (aside from the heroes ;) ). Garrett: Myself, mainly, which is lucky, ‘cause I’m a bit of a twit. But, seriously, anything can make me laugh, given the right mood, but I’m a big fan of silliness, you know, just arsing around, just for hell of it. Clever humour passes me by. Continue reading

Guest Post and Giveaway: Prince of Faith Blog Tour With Belinda McBride

Q.) Hi, Belinda, and welcome to you. We’re glad to have you here with us today. What do you find most creatively satisfying about writing Alt U/Fantasy/Paranormal/Sci-fi rather than a contemporary romance?

A.) I think I fell in love with speculative fiction way back when I was a kid. The first books I read were children’s classics like Black Beauty and Little Women, which in their way were as far different from my life as a fantasy or paranormal could be. When I was in the sixth grade, I was introduced to Tolkien and Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Those books taught me that I could literally make my own worlds, no matter how fantastic or unlikely. My personal life always held an edge of fear and stress; at best, my father was a very unpleasant man. At worst…well, that doesn’t bear discussion. Just suffice it to say that I lost myself for hours at a time in worlds of my own making, where I was usually the hero out saving the lives of my classmates. Continue reading

8548904TNA: Hi, Alex, thanks so much for joining us today. Why don’t we start things off by having you tell us a bit about yourself?

Alex: This is where I go ‘Oh, blimey, what do you want to know?’ because I’m socially inept and never know what people expect me to answer to this. How do you sum yourself up, after all? I’m the one who doesn’t talk a lot but when they do, they come out with an observation so odd, nobody knows how to reply. I’m INTP, which apparently means I ought to be in my room trying to figure out the internal dimensions of the Tardis right now.

On a ‘just the facts please’ basis, I am a hetromantic asexual agender person largely regarded by the world as a straight married woman with two children. But for most of my life I haven’t known the right labels, so I’ve just thought of myself as weird and identified hard with the aliens and robots of SF. Which naturally made me want to write, and here I am today. Continue reading

Guest Post and Giveaway: The Prosperity Blog Tour With Alexis Hall

Cowboys and Dandies and Wizards, Oh My

Lisa asked me to talk a bit today about the inspirations for Prosperity, particularly in the light of the blurb, which is quite self-consciously pulpy.

Prosperity actually has quite a long history of how it got where it is, and so it has quite a lot of random influences feeding into it. I originally wrote it in response to an open call for frontier stories. I really want to something about the wild west, or at least that felt like the wild west, but I’m kind of squicked out by the, y’know, the genocide that was going on at the time. More broadly, the problem with frontier stories is that virtually every “frontier” explorers have ever encountered has been someone else’s home. You had all these Victorians running off excitedly to darkest Africa and talking about all the things they’d found that nobody had ever seen before. Things that by and large were built by people whose descendants still lived in the area. Continue reading

If You Could Pay To Be With Someone, Would You?

We fantasize about movie stars, athletes even our neighbors. We don’t do anything with them because maybe they’re unavailable or we don’t deem ourselves worthy but there was a price, and you could pay it to be with them for one evening, would you? There’s a part of us that say “no”. We’d want that person to want to be with us, not for the money we’d pay them but because they desire us. That’s one of the dilemmas my protagonist, Peter encounters when he decides to dabble into the dark side and become an erotic masseuse. Continue reading

Knocked Down By Machismo

Hello, everyone!

Those of you who have read my work already know my stories are mostly inspired by everyday situations. For those of you who have yet to read my work and have absolutely no clue what to expect, I’ll tell you realism is my “thing.” There’s no magic penis that’ll cure anything and everything, but there’s a strong desire to be happy. There’s love, commitment, and there’s hope.
I’ll always try my best to make my readers part of my characters’ journey. Now, it’s never a quick or easy road, but my readers tell me they feel emotionally invested by the time they reach The End… or The Beginning. It always depends on which story they choose to read first. ;-) Continue reading

And his relationship with his aristocratic lover, Lord Crane, is beginning to feel the strain.
Crane chafes at the restrictions of England’s laws, and there’s a worrying development in the blood-and-sex bond he shares with Stephen. A development that makes a sensible man question if they should be together at all.

Guest Post and Giveaway: I Always Forget Something by Eva Lefoy

It seems that when I’m writing along either in a M/F or a M/M story – yes, I’m a bit all over the boards – I always forget something. Lately, it’s been blow jobs. And I really have to wonder why in the heck am I forgetting those?

While it’s not one hundred percent true, I do tend to toss them in sometimes as negotiation points between characters or else use them as comedy. In Sex, Ties and Videotape, Paul gave a blow job to Geoffrey as a way of showing him how serious he was about his desire for him. On the other hand, in Dom of Destruction, Brian walks in on Gar getting a blow job from a sub, and Gar’s poor cock is left dangling there with no hope of relief. Continue reading
