What is it you find so romantic about the idea of two people, who got things so wrong the first time, getting a second chance to fall in love?

Lane: I love the idea of a second chance. There is a romantic notion behind a shot at redemption. Whether it is a matter of righting a wrong or pacifying ancient hurt, a clean slate after coming up short the first time around is an appealing concept. It brings to mind rebirth, renewal and gives depth to a story right from the start. Knowing the main characters have a past is titillating. Human curiosity will make you wonder what happened to ruin what they had in the first place, how they messed things up and if we as readers think they have a chance at finding true happiness the second time around.

In The Wrong Man, Brandon and Jake are two men with a past. They were secret high school sweethearts who didn’t survive the transition into the real world. Twelve years later they each have successful careers and have gone on to lead fulfilling lives, though both have their own baggage in the form of ex boyfriends and intolerant families. If it weren’t for Jake’s charming old Lab, Mack, the mistakes from the past might override their ability to establish even a passing friendship. But Mack is irresistible. He may be old but he seems to have that strange wisdom some older animals develop after many years. A patient attitude of kindness and a willingness to sit quietly and enjoy the simple pleasures in life. For Bran and Jake, this is the perfect foundation for renewal.

I am a hopeless romantic. I admit it. I love a slow building love story and I’m crazy about a happy ending I can truly believe in. A second chance gives both the author and the reader the opportunity to explore the past, enjoy the present and take a peek at a future for the MCs. It gives a depth and a layer of perspective that enables the reader to truly know the guys and root for them every step of the way.

I’m absolutely in love with Brandon. I’m biased, I know. But damn, he is so disarming and kind with a sassy, self-confidence that makes you wish he was your best friend. I want to invite him to a party or pop into his store in West Hollywood so he can show me his favorite pieces from a fabulous new collection. *sigh* I knew when I was writing The Right Words he needed his own story because every once in a while, you come across a person (or a character) you know deserves a second chance at something special.

A quick note: The Wrong Man is Book #2 in The Right & Wrong Stories, but these are standalone books, just like the Better Than Stories and can be read in any order. Thank you so much for having me here today! :)

Happy Reading!

SMThe_Wrong_Man_FinalBlurb: Successful owner of an upscale boutique in fabulous West Hollywood, Brandon Good swears by his personal edict to “live in the present.” After a bad break-up, he agrees to dog sit to keep his mind off his ex. Never did he expect the dog to belong a man from his past, the only man to ever truly break his heart.

When Jake Westley relocates to join the WeHo fire department, the last thing he anticipates is reuniting with his secret high school love. Thrilled with the prospect of reconnecting with Bran, Jake feels no guilt in using his charming old dog as an unwitting matchmaker. As they rekindle their friendship, it becomes clear the intense attraction they once felt is stronger than ever. But as hard as they try to leave the past behind, painful memories resurface. Bran will have to confront his fears and consider the possibility that the man he swore was absolutely the wrong one might be perfect after all.

  1. Thanks for the giveaway! The Wrong Man was great, can’t wait for next book in the series. :) And absolutely, I’m a dog (and cat) person.

  2. I’m a dog person, albeit the fact that I live with a cat. I think it is difficult to keep a dog in a flat, when you have weird timetables and spend really little time home.
Congratulations on the new release. I’ve already added The Wrong Man to my TBR list

  3. Congrats on the release. I love dogs. If it weren’t for the facts of living in an apartment and crazy work hours, I would have a pet. I also really love stories about men wth dogs, so I loved reading the blurb.

  4. I do love dogs (and cats).

I think it is romantic when two people can work through past mistakes or misunderstandings and come together, especially when they have both grown and changed with time.

    Thanks!

  5. I love dogs when they belong to someone else. They take a lot of work! I guess I’m more of a cat person. Thanks for the giveaway. The book sounds really interesting.

  6. I’m always and forever dog person. Right now I don’t have a dog, my work schedule doesn’t give me time for a pet, but my dream would be to be able to live in the country with a few dogs.

  7. I’m currently owned by a cat but had dogs growing up. I live in an apartment but fortunately have a few friends who let me indulge my doggy love.

  9. Dogs rock! As a child we always had 3 dogs, but when I moved out, I became a kitty person. Now that I have a 10 year old daughter, I think a dog will be coming into the picture in the near future. She won’t let the desire rest! I wish we were home more, but she thinks I could take the doggie to work with me! Anyway, congrats on the new release! Thanks for the chance :)
