T.C. Blue Brings “The Butt Ninjas From Hell”, And There’s A Giveaway!

NOH8 2Hi, all, and thanks for being here!

For those who don’t know me, I’m T.C. Blue, but please feel free to call me Tis (it rhymes with kiss *hee*), and I write gay romance, though usually of the novel-length variety.

My most recent venture into the world of fiction is my story A Ninja Walks Into A Bar, which appears in the Butt Ninjas From Hell anthology (coming soon from Wilde City Press).

Now, until just recently, I’ve mostly written contemporary gay romance, completely devoid of Hell or ninjas, so why in the world do I have a story in an anthology that includes both those things? Good question, right?

The short answer is that a couple of years ago, I was at Outlantacon with several other authors (Kage Alan, Kiernan Kelly, Shae Connor, and Angelia Sparrow), and a joke during one of the convention panels turned into an agreement to do a different anthology, which was call Butt Pirates In Space. That was my first foray into science fiction, by the way.

In any event, when the book was released (at Outlantacon the following year), most of us were there, and the response from the attendees was so great, we decided to do a second anthology with even more authors (myself, Kiernan Kelly, Shae Connor, Ally Blue, JP Barnaby, Eden Winters, Kage Alan and Jevocas Green). We even decided to possibly make this an annual event, with more Butt anthologies to — pardon the pun — come. (I’d tell you some of the future titles we’ve been batting around, but then I’d have to kill you. It’s all sooper-seekrit and stuff.) We took a vote and the title/subject winner for this second antho was… dun-dun-dun… Butt Ninjas From Hell!

Now, I’m not religious in any real way, but I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of Hell, in all its forms. And ninjas? Well, what’s more intriguing than these legendary, stealthy, masked men with nigh-on supernatural skills? Combining the two is just a recipe for a good time, especially when those almost supernatural skills pass almost.

It also gave me the perfect excuse to play with various ideas of Hell (and Heaven) and my version of the world outside… and what might happen when they collide. What sort of beings live in Hell on a daily basis? How would someone from Hell deal with a snarky, irreverent guy from the modern world? What if they felt a connection? How would that change things, and more importantly, how would it change them? And how can I call something that sounds so very serious a funny story?

Most of the funny comes from one of the characters, Dallas. He’s got a smart mouth on him and lacks any sort of filter. *grins* He’s enough to drive a Hell-ninja to drink… among other things.

Ki, on the other hand, doesn’t have much sense of humor — he’s a Hell-ninja, which one might assume to be a relatively humorless job — until he ends up spending time with Dallas and much teasing ensues.

I don’t want to say too much here. Spoilers suck, no matter whether you’re the one spoiling or being spoiled. I’ll just say that it was a fun story to write and I hope it’ll be just as much fun to read.

We’re planning a book release party at Outlantacon again this year, so if you happen to be in Atlanta over the first weekend of May and like a bit of science fiction with your rainbow-flag-waving, maybe you’ll make some time to attend.

Thanks for your time, all, and happy ninja-ing! *grins*

(Outlantacon is hosting Gaylaxicon this year. From the Outlantacon website, located here :

“Outlantacon is an Atlanta-based event for the Queer Geek audience! You’ll find all the usual convention fare here—discussion panels, gaming, costuming, special events—the difference is that it all has a queer ‘bent’ to it. Here you can enjoy all the convention trappings in an atmosphere where you’re free to be yourself! We also offer some pretty unique twists as well, like our own versions of Match Game (a staple since 2007,) Project Cosplay (2010,) Nea’s Drag Race (2011) and the new, wildly popular Sock Puppet Theatre that was added last year.”)

Blurb: Butt Ninjas from Hell

They move like shadows through the night… when they aren’t tripping over the furniture. Porn stars, holy emissaries, demons, and even just plain humans—ninjas come in all forms and from all kinds of Hell in this erotically charged comedic Wilde City anthology. Whether it’s the world of second-rate television, fluttering ninja stars, obsessions over a bronzy-olive toned soldier, or magic backsides, your authorial guides will take you where few readers have ever dared to go… without protection.
