Blurb: Patrick has a plan, and he’ll go to great lengths to see it through.
After three weeks apart due to work and school commitments, he and Will are finally getting to spend some time together. Patrick is staying with Will over the Christmas holidays, and he intends to tell him how he feels on Christmas Day. It’s going to be perfect.
But of course, Patrick’s plans don’t always go smoothly….

Review: For those of us who fell in love with Patrick and Will in Annabelle Jacobs’ A Curious Thing, this sweet little Christmas vignette, A Serious Thing, is the perfect follow up to the story that left us with their happy-for-now-ish ending.

Patrick is so near to completing school, and he and Will have had to make do with weekends together, but life in general and Will’s obligations have kept them apart for three weeks now, and Christmas is just around the corner. Patrick has plans to make this holiday a special one for both Will and himself, but there’s a trick to the timing of it that Will not understanding may make things tricky for Patrick to pull off. The chemistry between these two guys is still white hot, and Jacobs doesn’t bother to keep readers in suspense, waiting for the sparks to fly between them. That’s the beauty of the short story, though—the instant gratification—especially when we already know the characters, and let me tell you, Patrick and Will burn up these pages in such a delicious way.

Ben, the best brother ever to Patrick—not to mention, the best friend ever to Will—also shows up again to be supportive and generally awesome too. Bottom line here is that this short story is wonderful, beginning to end, but I wouldn’t recommend reading it as a standalone. Get to know these guys in A Curious Thing first, and while you’re at it, you can grab this freebie as a sweet bonus holiday treat.

Blame it on jet lag. Jason Greene thought he had everything: a dream job as a partner in a large Philadelphia law firm, a beautiful fiancée, and more money than he could ever hope to spend. Then he finds his future wife in bed with another man, and he’s forced to rethink his life and his choices. On a moment’s notice, he runs away to Paris, hoping to make peace with his life.

But Jason’s leave of absence becomes a true journey of the heart when he meets Jules, a struggling jazz violinist with his own cross to bear. In the City of Love, it doesn’t take them long to fall into bed, but as they’re both about to learn, they can’t run from the past. Sooner or later, they’ll have to face the music.

“Temptation like Jeremy Saitou was the very last thing a newly appointed floor manager needed.” – Piper Vaughn

Title: Three Strikes

Blurb: Jeremy Saitou is on his third and final strike. His manager, Shawn, would love nothing more than to send him packing. Shawn hates everything about the guy, especially Jeremy’s insolent mouth. Sure, Jeremy is exactly Shawn’s type—hot, pierced, and tattooed—but no one else has ever annoyed Shawn more. It Won’t Take A Wing Or A Prayer To Find The Love In T.A. Webb’s “Love On a Wing and a Prayer”

“In his eyes I saw all the other possibilities … the seemingly impossible possibilities.” ― Tiffanie DeBartolo

True romance is alive and well and living within the pages of T.A. Webb’s FREE “Love Has No Boundaries” contribution, Love on a Wing and a Prayer, the story of US Navy Aviator Lieutenant David Perkins, a man who serves his country in the post-DADT days but is still not rushing to reveal his sexuality to his fellow servicemen, not even to the ones he considers his brothers.

One of the many things I loved about this story, apart from the emotional connection Mr. Webb so deftly weaves in the first-person narrative, is the relevance of the story and its visual recalling of so many of the images we’ve seen recently: the proposals on bended knee, the wedding ceremonies that have happened in front of a global audience in celebration of the steps we’ve taken to define marriage as a union between two loving souls rather than between sexualities.

David finds his other half in a man named Chuck Wilder, a fellow aviator who is transferred to David’s squadron. The eye contact, the subtle brushing of a shoulder, the want on David’s part to be more to Chuck but not knowing whether Chuck is even gay are all palpable moments that make the reader do little more than anticipate the moment these men will share their first kiss.

The love and acceptance from their fellow brothers-in-service is nothing less than a feel good moment as David discovers his secret was one of the worst kept of his life. And the end… Well, the end is nothing less than smile-inducing as David and Chuck prepare for a future filled with possibilities.

If you want to read a short story that will warm your heart, leave you smiling and will make you believe in love and romance and happily ever after, then I can’t recommend Love on a Wing and a Prayer highly enough.

New lovers Rhys Matherton and Silas Quint finally have a chance to breath easy and enjoy a well-earned respite on board a transatlantic cruise to New York City. But the lack of danger gives Rhys too much time to think about the enormity of falling in love with a man who isn’t human. He’s not sure love at first sight can last, especially when your lover is fae. Sure, the sex is fantastic, but that’s not enough to hang the rest of your potentially immortal life upon.

To distract himself, Rhys suggests he and Silas take a set of lessons to learn to waltz. The plan backfires when they are paired with two older women—one of whom reminds Rhys of his recently deceased mother. Instead of being able to ignore thinking about his future with Silas, he’s actively questioned about his lover. And it seems the whole boat knows who he’s sleeping with.

As Rhys learns the steps of the waltz, he has to decide if he’ll continue to dance around what he feels for Silas or if he’ll finally learn to trust in his partner’s love for him.

Happy Sodding Valentine’s! Love, Melanie Tushmore

I’m a laugh tart. I make no secret of that fact. – Hugh Grant

P.S. – This not a review. This is only an observation.

I’m freaking excited about this series.

Do you remember The Monkees? No? Just me? Well, if you do, imagine The Monkees have traveled forty years into a future where cable television offers them the near unlimited license to carry out their madcap shenanigans without fear of those pesky censors telling them they have to keep it clean. Imagine a world where hash brownies and dropping acid could make everything hella groovy, a world where a cheese grater may or may not be a lethal weapon, and a world where the pretty girl isn’t so much pretty as she is a hygienically challenged crack whore who thinks she’s Castro’s daughter and won’t go the hell away. This, my friends, gives you a very dim picture of the questionably dim men who are in the book of fun that is Happy Sodding Valentine’s.

This is a short prequel to Melanie Tushmore’s new series The Crucifox Pub Tales, which, not to confuse things, actually seems to happen sometime after the excerpt from the actual first book, The Green Eyed Monster (Crucifox #1), due out next month from Storm Moon Press. This is the story of a rock band that hasn’t quite found the secret to their success just yet, based on the fact that their living arrangements may or may not be in violation of several public health codes. ::shudders:: Trust me when I tell you this is not your mama’s romantic Valentine’s Day story. In fact, though you can probably take a pretty good stab at a guess, it’s not even altogether clear who Sky’s guy’s gonna be…though I know who I hope it is.

So why not go ahead and introduce yourselves to Sky, Ritchie, Brandon, Jamie, and Spider; the boys in the band Crucifox. It’s FREE!, so you have nothing to lose but the time you’ll spare reading it, and if you’re at all like me, you might end up as anxious as I am to see what hijinks and hilarity awaits the boys now they’ve finally rid themselves of their smelly house-crasher. Seriously, she made my brain throw up just a little bit. Blech.
