Blurb: Kappy and Jason are happily newlywed men relocating from a military base in Massachusetts to Kappy’s childhood home of Honolulu. For Kappy, the move brings up a lot of good and bad memories. And with his husband working a lot, it leaves him to deal alone with his resurrected past.

Jason, an Air Bear, is working at the combined Hickham and Pearl Harbor bases as a military police detective on a reactivated cold case. Although Jason’s work is secretive, his private life is spicy, hot, and nothing like anything the normally remote Jason has experienced before.

But things are about to get freaky when the target of Jason’s investigation starts stalking him. Jason has much to lose, and now he wonders about Kappy’s assertion that the island spirits—especially some wacky volcano goddess named Pele—will protect him…

This story was previously published in an Anthology from Amber Quill Press named AmberPax. Each of the stories in that book were separated and can now be found individually.

Dividers

Review: Jason is an Air Bear – a military policeman and an air force pilot. Kappy is a braille interpreter and tutor. When Jason gets stationed at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii, shortly after they are married, it gives Kappy a happy excuse to go home.

Kappy – short for Kahuna – was born and raised in Hawaii, and the chance to show the island off to his new husband is an opportunity he can’t pass up – but only if Jason refrains from talking pork on the H3 highway. Jason is on a task force charged with solving cold case police files. The problem is, this case doesn’t want to stay cold, and a killer needs to tie up loose ends before he gets caught.

Air Bear is an incredibly well thought out book for being an extended novella. I laughed at the parents, I was intrigued by the mystery, and it was an easy and enjoyable read. The HEA for Kappy and Jason is never in jeopardy—they are a solid couple and so good for each other. I highly recommend this short, easy read.

Blurb: 3rd Edition

Devastated after his home is ransacked, Garrick Cross’s heart breaks further when he finds his rare, beloved Dean From Hell Vendetta guitar on an online auction. When he’s outbid, Garrick feels he’s lost everything. The police try to help him locate his stolen property, but the auction’s a done deal. His precious Vendetta is gone. After tracking down the man who beat him to it, Garrick asks if he’ll consider selling the guitar at a higher price. Reclusive collector Micah Drake declines, but finding Garrick attractive, offers a different price: a weekend in his bed. When Garrick turns to the officer in charge of his case, Mak Inoue, he finds more than just moral support.

Dividers

Review: Garrick is having a bad day. I mean, a really bad day. After fending off the advances of his therapist – an appointment which he was attending because of the bad breakup with his ex – he spies his dog wandering in the middle of the street. That’s the first clue that his day is going to continue downhill fast… It was supposed to be a joke, a prank played on him by the jealous new boyfriend of his ex. Just a little ad placed on Craigslist saying that his house and all its contents were there for the taking, just show up with a truck and take what you want. People talk about the shells left of cars after they have been stripped? They took everything from his house, right down to the kitchen sink and the pulls on his kitchen cabinet doors. Garrick arrives home in time to catch the last guy standing in his house, who complains the only think he gets is the garden hose because that’s all that’s left. His landlord is having a coronary, the dog is pouting, and Garrick is afraid of leaving home, scared that when he returns there will be no more windows or doors. And they took his guitar, the one of only one-hundred-fifty Dean From Hell Vendetta guitar his father gave him.

Detective Mak Inoue doesn’t know what to think when he is called to the scene of a break-in/robbery/domestic disturbance. But what he discovers is that Garrick didn’t ask for any of this and Mak develops a real need to make it right for Garrick. Find the guys missing stuff, return it, and help the guy heal, and the first order of business is to get the Vendetta back.

This story is a novella, so its short, but A.J. Llewellyn manages to take us on a nice ride through the twists and turns of Garrick retrieving his belongings – his guitar – and finding his HEA. Yeah, there are some leaps here, some moments of unbelievability, but if you want a nice, fun little read, just go with it. If you need some hot men and a light, easy read for an afternoon, this is the book for you.

Guest Post: The Mediator Blog Tour With A.J. Llewellyn

The Mediator was one of my very first books with Totally Bound, and for me, it was an agonizing love song to the sport. I was a boxing writer, moving into the world of erotic romance writing, and I knew, with each word I wrote of this book that I was leaving pieces of me in it.

I also knew I was on the verge of saying good-bye to the sweet science. Continue reading
