Blurb: A hot hook up at a celebrity wedding leaves Porter Campbell wanting a whole lot more of gorgeous Stiegen Lange. Unfortunately for Porter, Stiegen’s career as a voice over actor is skyrocketing, and a serious relationship isn’t in his plans. Their hours together in Miami were more than a booty call for Porter, but what can he do?

Stiegen finds solace in Porter’s arms when his best friend nearly dies. Then, he organizes an unforgettable weekend of passion with Porter back in Boston. His feelings deepen. Saying good-bye to Porter gets harder every time, leaving him wondering whether his career can remain the center of his universe.

Because Porter’s in it for love and won’t settle for less.

Review:  Boston Boyfriends deals with myriad issues for both MCs, both personal and professional. Being out, homophobia, and family support are just some of the issues Porter and Stiegen encounter.

I liked seeing these issues being brought up, and how the MCs reacted but, unfortunately, the relationship didn’t really make much sense to me. The main characters didn’t seem to have any chemistry, other than them jumping into bed all the time. Their lifestyles were completely different, and neither one seemed all that willing to change, or even bend, to be together until a tragedy befalls the couple’s mutual friend.

The writing was good, flowed well, and is easy to follow, and I’ll likely seek out more books by this author, but in this instance, the characters were just not likeable to me. This was a romance story with almost no romance or anything else that makes me feel all the warm fuzzies inside.

Ripped from Reality – Boston Boyfriends

MC1Every author has been asked, “How did you come up with that story?” Well, Boston Boyfriends is dedicated to two men I adored, and the characters and story are loosely related to Robert and Paul’s life together.

Robert (left) and Paul met for the first time at a wedding in Las Vegas. Paul lived on the East Coast, and Robert crossed the Pond for the visit. They had an amazing time in Vegas and sparks really flew for Paul. Robert returned to England afterward – liking Paul a lot but not wanting to go too fast since he lived thousands of miles away and had just ended a long-term relationship.

Their relationship was tumultuous, mostly because Paul knew exactly what he wanted and Robert wasn’t very quick to be “all in.” Skype became a regular part of their very long distance relationship. I recall Paul gushing over how sexy Robert was and how crazy he was about him, while Robert was more reserved – shy about his feelings for Paul.

Did I mention we were yacking it up in a private Facebook group? Oh yeah. No holds barred in there. It’s no wonder Robert was scared shitless of the rest of us.

MC2Anyway, Paul made a trip to England for a visit. They had a spectacular time. Paul did his best to drag Robert to every cultural opportunity possible. Robert tried to teach Paul the beauty of a decent, home cooked meal and evenings at the pub with his friends. Both whined and complained about the latest adventure they were being dragged to, but we all knew how much fun they were having together and that they were falling in love.

Eventually Robert invited Paul to move to England and live together. And he agreed. We watched their romance turn into a tremendous commitment and love via Facebook chats and private messages. How unique and wonderful those months were. I’ll always cherish them as a gift.

So, how does Boston Boyfriends parallel? Porter (the teacher) meets Stiegen (the voice over actor) at a posh, celebrity wedding. They are instantly attracted to each other and wind up in bed that night. Neither lives in Miami and after their night together, Porter is pretty hooked on Stiegen. But Stiegen has big plans for his career and a serious romance isn’t part of his plan.

An accidental meeting in Boston reinforces that attraction for both men, but Stiegen is still resisting his emotions. That pisses off Porter in a big way. He doesn’t care about what Stiegen has or his celebrity status. He only cares about Stiegen the man.

A big event in Stiegen’s life brings the two men together and puts Porter in a position to give Stiegen emotional strength when he needs it most. Stiegen’s resistance melts away. Life is too short to spend it only in recording studios, making money with people who don’t care about him. A romantic, erotic New Year’s weekend celebration together cements their relationship. Though not perfect, these two men, like Robert and Paul, decided together is better than apart – no matter what.

The characters are flawed just like the real men are. The best part, however, is that they got their happily ever after.

I hope you’ll enjoy reading Boston Boyfriends. I’m giving away a copy to one pithy commenter. Speak from the heart about a relationship that inspired you and you could be the winner.

Solid Story and Supporting Cast

Recently, a reviewer said my newest book, Coming Back for Drew, was very good and the story was filled with fascinating supporting characters. When I stepped back and looked at the core of the story this reviewer was spot on.

Coming Back for Drew is not just about having a second chance at love. It’s proving you deserve it. When each of us reflects about our lives, we know there are people along the way who impacted the choices we made, the successes and failures we had and the people we became. Continue reading

TNA: Hi, Margie, I’m so glad to have you here with us today. Let’s start by having you tell us a little bit about yourself.

M.C.: Thanks for hosting me! It’s always fun to be at a new place. About me? I promise not to answer the door wearing lingerie. It scares the visitors and embarrasses my teenager and husband. You will find me in the stands cheering on my oldest son who plays snare drum in a world-class drum corps. I prefer my beer and my whiskey to have plenty of flavor. No light beer for me. Irish and Canadian straight up, please. My flower gardens are my summertime passion and if you follow me on social media, you’ll see plenty of gorgeous photos of them. I’m a native Minnesotan and love snow. Continue reading
